Alyvidy is a Portuguese / Canadian / Italian /Brazilian concept artist, ex-dancer and choreographer, a  recent Odd School of Entertainment alumnus, working presently as a  freelance  professional. They are competent in a wide range of media including oil painting, clay sculpture, 3D modelling and digital design.

Constant travel for family and studies made them change locations every three to  four years and granted them access to a vast visual library that has jumpstarted their creativity for their new career.

I can either lose myself on someone else’s thoughts and creations or let my mind wander and see what tales and imaginings it has in store for me. There is no other choice.

As a kid, I always enjoyed gathering sticks or stones and acting like they were weapons or items of extreme value. As I played, I created story arcs with goals to, for example… get past certain trees, or not to be spotted by random people. When I was inside, I enjoyed content rich in story or worldbuilding as found in Dragon Age Origins, Princess Mononoke, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and Mass Effect.

But when I was forced into the mundane aspects of life that was when my mind took over…transforming my tasks into ones of more excitement. Washing dishes? Nope. I’m polishing shields for the battle ahead. Going for a run? I am now a runner on the Star Wars planet Coruscant dodging and weaving through the streets to deliver an urgent message. Staring out the window on the 4 hour train ride? I’m now visualizing and morphing the landscape to fit whatever new story line has taken my interest. Whether it would be stretching mountains, spawning floating citadels or hatching sprawling fields of outlandish creatures, I was always mutating existence to fit whatever fancy.

Now as an adult… absolutely nothing has changed; Except now my life experience has given me more tools to construct more vivid, intricate and dynamic creations along with the skills to share them with others. The constant family moving, a strong focus on science/math in high school, and a career as a dancer & choreographer; have exposed me to many diverse views, visuals, ideas and thought processes. Now I want to apply all that into a career that actively uses my obsession for creation and story telling.

All the time, I have always been creating. Whether it would be in my choreographies for work, world building as a DM for a D&D game for my friends, or washing shields for the next battle. Concept art is a space where I can fully immerse myself into others creation while delving fully into my own mind. Creation isn’t a choice. It’s just what I am. It’s what I do.

Short Term:
I wish to join a fast paced company to experience and learn from the pressures of the production cycle in video games (or worldbuilding rich movies) as a concept artist.  This is both to unlock the next stage of artistic development as well as getting exposed to seasoned professionals.
Long Term:
I want to set up an system where I can live comfortably solely off my art, as a independent artist. All the while, I wish to have the flexibility and financial possibility to travel, take workshops and expose myself to as much the world has to offer to both improve myself and my art.

Fast Learner/Dedicated

In one year went from these sketches to the alternative Mandalorian creation, with reference sheets and process. This includes learning programs like photoshop, zbrush and sketchup.

In another career (dance) as a similar story, it took me a year to enter a dance university (Escola Superior de Dança), and two more years to enter one of the top dance schools in Europe (ArtEZ) against 1000s of people who have practiced their entre lives.

I attribute this to my dedication, as during these periods committed extra hours to my craft every day on top of full university coursework and intensive workshops over the holidays.

Endurance
To build off my last strength, I did keep these double digit hours, every day for months. Although it isn’t a sustainable pace and eventually I require rest, it does allows me the flexibility to persevere through harsh projects until the bitter end.
Organization
Due to a combination of my ADHD and constant sever lack of time, I have compelled myself to maintain meticulous notes and structure in order to be as time efficient as possible while avoiding miscommunication. This has gone beyond compensating for my ADHD and made it a core strength.

Diverse
I am a multinational who never lived in the same house longer than 4 years, attended many schools (public & private), focused on both academic sciences as well as art, and visited many countries due to my parents work. Due to this I am quick to adapt while developing a very wide net of inspirations and beliefs to bring fresh ideas.

Group Player
Whether I was a leader or a follower, I have always performed well in teams. Having worked as a dancer, assistant, and choreographer for eight years, I have extensive knowledge in all areas, including interdisciplinary collaborations.

Advanced 3D Modelling (Blender/3D MAX)
I wish to start incorporating and mixing more 3D in to my art but currently do not have advanced knowledge to use it beyond creating structure

Charcoal Drawing
I always loved the texture and beauty of charcoal. I wish to learn and possibly incorporate it’s use in my art.

VFX
I wish to incorporate and experiment with more 2D VFX in my pieces, as my focus has been on strengthening my fundamentals for the last years. A more indepth understanding is one of my aims to learn

I am a fresh concept artist; with a wealth of varying experiences; famished for experience, improvement and work. I am the person if you require a proactive,  dedicated. organized artist that can meet deadlines while collaborating in a multidisciplinary projects.

I aim to provide fresh perspective and deliver a visual representation/translation to the concept provided to me. Beyond that I, thoroughly enjoy concept creation itself and can take a deeper thought process to represent the essence of ideas.
